No-bake Granola Bars

No-bake granola bars are an annual hunting treat here!  They are simple to make and you can add pretty much anything you have lying around. Ingredients:
  • 2 1/2 Cups of Rice Krispies
  • 2 Cups of Oatmeal
  • 1/2 Cup Brown Sugar
  • 1/2 Cup of Corn Syrup
  • 1/2 Cup Peanut Butter
  • 1 Teaspoon Vanilla
  • Adding up to 1/2 Cup give or take, usually more give... of any of the following: rasins, nuts, M&M's, flax seed, sunflower seeds, crasins, crushed pretzels, chocolate chips, sprinkles, be creative!
In a large bowl combine Rice Krispies, oatmeal and trail mix. In a small sauce pan combine the brown sugar and the corn syrup.  Bring to a boil stirring constantly. Once you have reached a boil, remove from heat and stir in the peanut butter and vanilla. Blend until smooth. Pour over the cereal mixture and mix well.  Next, add in all the goodies of your choice! Press into a lightly greased 9x13 pan and let cool. These are great served fresh and they also store well. I usually cut them up and put them in a ziploc bag. They are perfect for a mid day snack when you are out recreating.

@RachelDault , I’m so sorry that you had trouble with this recipe! I have made these many times, I know that they can be really crumbly at the bottom of the bowl but I am generally able to scrape out the crumbs and pack them into the the pan. If you try this again, I would suggest you try an extra scoop of peanut butter and an extra splash of corn syrup.

I just tried making these and there wasn’t nearly enough sauce to cover the mixture.  I tried smushing it all in a pan, but its just too crumbly.
