Additional Double Musky Inn Information:
The original Double Musky has been open for business since 1962. It is a premier after ski location for Girdwood Alaska. Originally, customers cooked their own steaks over a dining room fire (the only dining room at the time) and ate their food on picnic tables. The Musky has been owned and operated by many over the first 10 years. Bob and Deanna Persons bought the Double Musky in May of 1979 and their adventure began. Within no time the Double Musky in went on to be described by Esquire Magazine as the “last great American roadhouse.
Our menu now contains a fusion of New Orleans dishes prepared with Alaska seafood such as crab meat dressing stuffed halibut prepared with Creole burre blanc sauce. Also served includes shrimp ettoufee, shrimp & sausage jambalaya, lobster KaBobs and salmon au poirve. Since 1962 we’ve specialized in steaks along with a pleasing assortment of desserts and appetizers that are bound to satisfy the most discriminating.
Recently Jill Cordes – hostess of the “Best Of” show on the Food Network gave us a nod while naming the best restaurants in America. She described the Double Musky in Girdwood as the top place for steaks in the USA and more specifically named the Pepper Steak as the best. Furthermore we will have a page in the book “The Best Of” which will be published later this year. Jill selected one restaurant each in New York City, Los Angeles and tiny Girdwood. She is a nationally recognized food critic.
