2006/2019 Chevrolet Kodiak C4500 4X4 Custom expedition vehicle
The truck was built during the winter of 2019 to carry our family of 4 on an adventure from Alaska to Argentina. We spared no expense and constructed what turned out to be the perfect overland travel vehicle for our needs. We lived full time in this truck for 12 months and travelled from Fairbanks Alaska throughout the continental US and all around southern South America including Brazil, Uruguay, Argentina, Chile and back! We had only 2 minor mechanical issues (oil pressure sensor and air bag) over the course of 12 months and 30,000 miles. The vehicle is completely self-sufficient and requires no “hook ups” or typical RV facilities. With only minor preparations this vehicle is ready to take you and your family anywhere in the world safely and comfortably, and at a fraction of the cost of an Earth Roamer or built out Sprinter.

The truck spent 2 weeks with Muscle Shoals Diesel Service in Muscle Shoals, Alabama. While there we inspected every mechanical component on the truck and as a precaution decided to delete the EGR system and replace the following with new OEM (AC Delco) parts
AC compressor and lines
All fluids and filters were changed at this time
The engine runs perfectly and has plenty of power for the truck. In 30,000 miles across North and South America we averaged 11 MPG.
We chose to use Victron components for our electrical system. The system performs flawlessly and between the battery combiner and our solar panels we have NEVER ran a generator or used shore power. The batteries have never dropped below 50% capacity even after days parked in the shade.
4- LG Solar 365W NeONR black frame solar panels (Total of 1,460 watts)
2- Victron 300 ah LiFePO4 batteries (total of 600 Ah of lithium power)
Victron BVM-712 battery monitor
Victron Color Control GX
Victron VE Bus BMS, Battery protect
Victron Cyrix Li-ion combiner (This allows the batteries to be charged by the alternator while driving)
The truck has full plumbing and performs like a small apartment. The following components provide the ability to live anywhere on the road with the comforts of home. Because of the water purification system we were able to fill our freshwater tank from a variety of sources (including streams) and never once had an issue with drinking water quality.
Wet bathroom with Shower
Maxx Air 7500k fan
Seaward 6 gallon water heater (water is heated by the vehicle antifreeze while driving)
Viqua VT4 Copper series UV sterilization system
Culligan carbon/sediment 10 micron filter
Aquatec 5501-V77DUL variable speed water pump 4GPM
Thetford C402X cassette (With this toilet there is no black water tank to dump. The waste is stored in a small and portable tank than can be dumped in a bathroom toilet or in road side outhouses. We used this toilet as a family of 4 full time with zero issues)
Daewoo DWD-35MCRCR mini drum washing machine
52 gallon freshwater tank
30 gallon greywater tank
Since we planned to travel through a variety of climates, our goal was to have a consistent level of comfort even in weather extremes. We experienced 33 degrees F in Ushuaia Argentina and well over 100 degrees F in Georgia and at all times were able to live comfortably in the vehicle.
Cruise’n’comfort HD-12L Split A/c system
HD dual fan condenser upgrade
Planar 44D diesel heater
ISOTHERM Cruise 200 fridge/freezer
Duo Mini induction cooktop
LG Hi-MACS countertop
Dining table is mounted on a removable swivel base
The truck is currently configured to sleep 2 adults and 2 children (8 & 11). It features a Signature sleep 6” memory foam queen mattress mounted on “Happi-jac” bed lift above the dining area. The kids beds are located in the front of the cab-over and are custom sized mattresses. If needed, the dining seating can be converted to additional sleep space for 2 more adults.
It is with great difficulty that we sell our “home”, but it has served us well and been a fantastic tool for our family to experience the world. We are in a new phase of our lives, and the vehicle is ready for a new family and new adventures!
Please only serious and financially capable buyers!
