Moose Taco Ring

[dropcap]T[/dropcap]his recipe is one that my Mom made growing up, it is very adaptable to the ingredients you have on hand. I have made it topped with just salsa and sour cream, as well as with the ingredients of a complete taco bar. Use what you have and tailor it to your family's liking. Here is what you will need:
  • 1.5-2 cans of Crescent Dough
  • 1-1.5 Lbs. of ground meat (moose)
  • 1 packet of Taco Seasoning
  • Shredded Cheese
  • Taco Toppings: sour cream, salsa, lettuce, olives, tomatoes, onion, etc.
Begin by browning the meat, once almost brown, put in one packet or 1/4 cup of seasoning and 1/2 cup of water turn down the heat and let simmer until the liquid is mostly absorbed.  Now read the can of biscuits, you will bake according to the temperature and time listed on the tube. Mine was 350° for 14-17 minutes. While your meat is simmering and your oven pre-heating, open the biscuits and rollout the triangles. You will need to gauge how much meat you have.  Begin to place the triangles in a circle resembling a sun, leave about a 4-6 in circle in the middle.  The bigger you make the hole, the more dough you will need (for 2 cans go bigger for one make it smaller).  For your meat to stay in, make sure that all of the dough pieces are overlapping a bit.  Remember that the size of your ring can be slightly adjusted once placed. With a slotted spoon to drain any excess liquid and ladle the browned and seasoned meat into the thickest  part of the dough closest to the inner circle. Take the top of the dough and begin folding it over the top of the meat and tucking it under the dough on the inside of the ring until all are folded over. Once your taco ring is complete, sprinkle with cheese and bake.
