March 21, 2017 - It was a blast climbing the Lazy Mountain Trail. We had attempted the climb the day before but had to turn back because we had neglected to bring any traction cleats. The next day we were back with the right gear and determined to reach the summit. The trail was in great condition and it was an amazingly clear day. Above the treeline there was a bitter cold headwind which made for a long and harsh climb, but once we hit the top it was absolutely worth it. Between Pioneer Peak and the Chugach Mountains, the Talkeetna Mountains and the valley below, it was a truly awesome view. During our descent we were rewarded with a beautiful sunset which was the cherry on top. It was a cold day and while at times uncomfortable, it was an experience we won't soon forget.
