The Father’s Day Contest has come to a close. We would like to start with huge thank you to all that participated! The pictures that were submitted were fantastic! It is a wonderful sight; to see men enjoying life with their families. It is a refreshing reminder of how living the great “Alaska life” is truly part of a legacy. Being a Father is a serious responsibility and something we hold in high regard. Thank you for taking the time to pass these life-long treasures to those you love most. We hope that you can enjoy your children along the journey as you encourage and guide them to being the adults they will one day become. Don’t ever doubt that that the role you play in you kids lives is unimportant! Teach them how to be respectful to others, teach them responsibility, and show them the world through new eyes. Guard the time you have with your family and make it a priority. Create lasting memories that you all hold dearly and talk about them. Lastly, tell your children they are loved. We hope you had a great weekend and here is a big “Happy Father’s Day!” from all of us at The Alaska Life!
Sliding into home with a total of 110 votes, this is the winning submission for our Father’s Day Contest. A great picture that needs little explanation! Congratulations goes to Gordon Pepperd! We hope that you enjoy the gift pack from some of our sponsors that includes a gift certificate from our main man Jesse at Dahlberg’s Taxidermy for $300 toward any taxidermy work they offer, as well as some serious spices and rubs from our good friends at Mat-su BBQ Supply! To top it off, we are also throwing in a decal from The Alaska Life. We know you will make good use of all of these things and we hope you enjoy them with your family! Congratulations!
Here is a note to Gordon from his family:
The Pepperd family spent every summer camping on the Kenai coast exploring the beach for treasures, swimming and bathing in the refreshing waters that surround the camp, dreaming together, writing letters in bottles and throwing them out into the ocean for someone to find one day, fishing, hiking and laughing together. Kenai is a special place we still continue to go back to each summer as a family. It all started with my fathers adventurous spirit that has been passed down to us 3 kids and we will pass on for generations to come. Happy Fathers day Dad!
Although we can only have one winner for this contest we would like to add in some honorable mentions for your viewing enjoyment!
